    The ECR down

    Three hours if you do not stop, five if you do. Mahabalipuram is the obvious stop and deserves it.

    White Town and Auroville

    Mornings are for the promenade before it gets hot. Auroville in the afternoon, though the Matrimandir needs booking ahead.

    Worth knowing

    Stay inside White Town. Walking out of your door into it is most of what you came for.

    Breakfast, then back

    Baker Street for breakfast, on the road by noon.

Things I would tell a friend

  • The promenade closes to traffic in the evening. That is the best two hours of the day.
