Bus both ways, hostel dorm, and two days of not talking to anyone.

Overnight bus, then Laxman Jhula
Bus from Kashmere Gate, in by 6am. Dropped the bag and walked the bridges before the crowds.
Worth knowing
The 6am arrival is the best hour of the whole trip. Do not sleep it off.

Beatles Ashram and the ghats
The ashram in the morning, Ganga Aarti at Triveni in the evening. In between, sat by the river and did nothing.

Bus back
Afternoon bus, Delhi by night.

Two of us on rented Himalayans, no bookings past the first night. Fast, cold, and cheaper than it sounds.

Train down, one fort a day, and a lot of time spent eating.

Bus up, a day walk to Kheerganga, and not much else on purpose.
